Congratulations to King Albert for his second consecutive MVP. Pujols won unanimously, leaving no doubt in voters’ minds that he was the best player in the National League. His AL counterpoint, Joe Mauer, nearly matched the feat yesterday, but I already had my say about that outcome.

Pujols is just 29 years old and, believe it or not, in the prime of his career. This will not be his last MVP, and he is the guy who is capable of matching or possibly even besting Barry Bonds’ record of 7 MVPs. Pujols is not only gifted offensively, but defensively as well, and is a class act to boot. His work ethic and team-oriented attitude make it heasy to root for him, and I’m glad to see him add to his previous two MVP trophies. So congrats, Albert – you deserve it.
