Tebow or Not Tebow?

Exepect more of this in the NFL if he doesn

I have been wanting to write this column ever since Tim Tebow blew the doors off of the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl, throwing for a career high 482 yards and three touchdowns and completing a mind-numbing 31 of his 35 attempts. Everyone that watched Tebow throughout his college career was pretty shocked by this extremely efficient performance and outlandish yardage total because, quite honestly, it was out of character for him. His previous career high was 338 yards against the premium competition of the Florida Atlantic Owls. But this was Cincinnati, a team that was previously undefeated (but without their coach, Brian Kelly, who bailed for Notre Dame a few weeks before), in a BCS bowl game.

The Worthiness of Warner

Warner has come a long way from stocking shelves and during his 10 years in the league left a lasting mark.

With the impending announcement from Kurt Warner that he will retire as the quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals, ending an up and down career, many will turn their focus to Matt Leinart and Donovan McNabb, two names rumored to fill the highly desirable gig starting for a legitimate Super Bowl contender (or at least they were with Warner at the helm). But before I get ahead of myself and start to talk about something that probably won’t be resolved until after the draft, I just wanted to take a look back at his rise from grocery stockboy to Super Bowl and league MVP.

What Does the iPad Offer Sports Fans?

Kneel before the iPad.

By now, you found out that the reason the Internet broke yesterday was because Apple used an app to stop the world from spinning until everyone took the time to fawn over their new technological creation, the iPad (which, by the way, has instantly become fodder for feminine hygiene jokes — and MadTV’s iPad skit [...]

Open Your Eyes, Don’t Be Stupid

United on the concussion issue, Goodell and Smith must continue to work hand-in-hand to avoid what could turn out to be a catastrophe.

If it hasn’t become blatantly obvious by to you by now, then maybe you’re just not paying attention. But football has become, and has been for years, America’s pastime. I know that baseball has carried that moniker for years and it was well-deserved. The sport originated here and we still house the best league in the world. But it kind of sucks when you realize that foreign born players have far surpassed our homegrown talent and then there’s also the steroid issue. But America is fixated by football and it is by far our favorite sport.

Eight in the Box: And Then There Were Two

In a shocking turn of events, Manning changes the play at the line of scrimmage. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

The Super Bowl is now set. Thirteen days from now on South Beach the New Orleans Saints will face off against the Indianapolis Colts in what could be the greatest quarterback battle in the history of the game. I’m expecting it to rank right up there with Favre-Elway and Staubach-Bradshaw and slightly behind Manning-Grossman. Every once in a while the Super Bowl actually pits the two best teams throughout the entire season against one another and this year they actually got it right. The Colts and Saints were the last two undefeated teams and both are eerily similar. Both have explosive offenses and quick, playmaking defenses. This game is definitely shaping up to be an epic affair. But that game is still almost two weeks away and we have a lot of time until then to delve into that game in exhaustive detail.

Second and Inches: So Close You Can Taste It

Inches away. That is what football’s final four has in common. Each and every one of them is inches away from what every player plays the game for, except of course JaMarcus Russell because it’s painfully obvious he only plays the game for the money that he is stealing from Al Davis’ pocket every week, but can you blame him?

The Artist Fomerly Known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Writes a (Terrible) Song for the Minnesota Vikings

You can’t make this stuff up. Prince thought that it would be appropriate for his team to get all fired up in the locker room with this ditty, which sounds like it could be a fight song for a local junior high soccer team. See below for video.
