
While LeBron made “The Decision” and Twitter was about to explode with tweets aiming venom at the self-dubbed King’s brand-spanking new Twitter account, one of the most poignant tweets came across my screen: If ESPN cared about hockey, the Kovy situation would be more annoying than LBJ. Indeed, it just very well might be and if not, it’s pretty damn close.

As we all know, one of the main storylines for the Super Bowl is the new commercials that advertisers spend boatloads of money on. Each year there are at least a couple of standouts, and surely this year will be no different. A couple of the 44 ads on tap have already been leaked, so here’s you sneak preview. I hope everyone has had a chance to listen to the radio appearance that Sean and I did yesterday. We have posted it on the site for your amusement, and believe me, you will be amused. Me being the jackass that I am was so worked up for the Giants-Eagles matchup later in the day that I completely forgot about the interview and was grocery shopping when Sean called to remind me to call in.

Let me just start by saying that I truly believe that the Packers made the right decision last year when they decided to go with Aaron Rodgers over Brett Favre. Favre had been waffling for quite some time and this time he actually decided to retire. He cried at a press conference. He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated with tears in his eyes. He said he was done. The Packers finally decided to move on, yet when he rode the tractor around the farm a few times realized he wanted to play again. And then he got pissed off that the Packers didn’t want him back.

Whew! Yesterday was quite the day for football as we saw a legend create magic once more, a team get their first win in over a year, complete offensive futility, and much more interesting developments. There are some surprising undefeated teams as well as a few shockers that remain defeated.
